Community Guidelines
Effective October 28, 2026These guidelines explain what we expect from every member of Noora, how to report a problem, and what happens when someone breaks the rules. They apply to everything you share on Noora, including your profile, photos, stories, messages and voice messages.
1. What Noora Is For
Noora is a place for Muslims who are sincere about marriage to meet with respect and good intentions. Every person you meet here is someone's son or daughter, and deserves the same respect, honesty and care you would want for your own family.
Noora is not a place for casual dating, or for selling or promoting anything.
2. Our Rules
Most of these come down to good manners and honesty. Breaking them can lead to a warning, a suspension or a ban, as explained in Section 4.
Be Respectful
Speak to every member the way you would want your own family to be spoken to.
- No harassment, insults, threats or intimidation.
- No hate, slurs or mockery aimed at anyone's race, skin color, ethnicity, nationality, sect, gender or disability.
- No shaming anyone for how they practice their faith, how they look, or their marital history.
- If someone is not interested or stops replying, accept it gracefully and move on. Repeated unwanted messages are harassment.
Having preferences is fine. Insulting people for who they are is not.
Keep It Appropriate
Noora is for finding a spouse, so keep your photos and conversations modest.
- No sexual or explicit messages, photos, videos or voice recordings.
- Never ask anyone for sexual or explicit content.
- Never share an intimate image or video of anyone without their consent.
- Use modest photos that clearly show you.
- No violent or graphic content.
Be Genuine
A good marriage starts with honesty.
- Use your real identity, and never pretend to be someone else.
- Use recent photos of yourself.
- Keep your profile honest, including your marital status.
- One account per person, used only by you.
Adults Only
You must be 18 or older to use Noora. Accounts that belong to anyone under 18 are permanently banned. If you believe a member is under 18, please report them.
Never Ask for or Send Money
Requests for money are one of the clearest signs of a scam. Scammers often build trust first, then mention an emergency, a visa problem, travel costs or an investment.
- Never ask anyone for money, gifts, gift cards or financial help.
- Never send money to someone you met on Noora, however genuine they seem.
- No scams, and no investment, cryptocurrency or business pitches.
If anyone asks you for money, please report them.
Protect Privacy
What someone shares with you on Noora is shared in trust. Treat it as an amanah.
- Do not share other members' photos or conversations, on Noora or anywhere else.
- Do not share anyone's personal details, such as their phone number, address, workplace or social media accounts, without their permission.
No Spam or Advertising
- No advertising, promotions or sales of any kind.
- No promoting other apps, websites, groups or businesses.
- No spam, such as sending the same message to many people.
Follow the Law
Do not use Noora for anything illegal, including fraud, stalking, exploitation or sharing illegal content. We may share information with law enforcement when the law requires it, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
3. Reporting and Blocking
If someone breaks these guidelines or makes you feel uncomfortable, please tell us. Every report helps keep Noora safe.
Reporting
- You can report any member through the app.
- A person on our team reviews every report.
- If we take action, we send you a notification titled "Thank you" that says "We looked into what you told us." To keep your report private, it doesn't mention the report, the person or what we did. It arrives if notifications from Noora are turned on.
- Please only report genuine problems. Reporting someone falsely, or getting others to report someone falsely, is against these guidelines.
Intimate Images Shared Without Consent
If an intimate image or video of you is on Noora without your consent, email support@joinnoora.com with "Removal request" in the subject. Someone acting for you can send the request.
Blocking
You can block any member at any time. When you block someone:
- They can't match with you again, and your conversation becomes read only.
- They no longer see your activity status, your current photo or your stories.
- They are not told that you blocked them.
If the person broke these guidelines, please report them as well as blocking them, so our team can review what happened.
In an emergency: If you are ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first, then report the person in the app.
4. What Happens When Rules Are Broken
A person on our team reviews every report, and every warning, suspension and ban is decided by a person, never by automation. We act on reports from members and on what we find in our own reviews.
We handle most issues in steps:
- Warning: For a first minor issue. You will see the warning once in the app.
- 7 day suspension: For a second issue within 6 months, or a first serious one. During a suspension you can't use Noora: no messages, likes, stories or profile edits. Other members won't see you in Discover, Who Liked You or stories, and your matches see your chat as read only. It ends by itself after 7 days.
- Permanent ban: For a third issue within 6 months, or for anything severe, such as scams, asking for money, a fake identity, being under 18, or coming back after a ban. A ban is permanent.
Nothing on your account is deleted because of a warning, suspension or ban. If your account has a confirmed email address, we may also email you about a suspension or ban.
Reports Never Decide on Their Own
A report never hides anyone or changes their account by itself, however many members send one. Our team is alerted to every report as it arrives and reviews it, and anything that happens next is decided by a person. The one exception is age: if we learn that a member may be under 18, we hide their profile until our team has checked.
5. Appeals
If you believe we made a mistake, you can appeal.
- You can appeal each suspension or ban once, from the app.
- A person on our team reviews every appeal. We answer by email. If your account has no confirmed email address, the app shows our answer for as long as it shows that suspension or ban.
- If we agree the decision was a mistake, we lift the suspension or ban.
If you can't sign up because of a ban that is not yours, for example because your phone number used to belong to someone who was banned, please contact support@joinnoora.com.
